Why Are My Pictures Blurry?
The first step was getting off of auto-mode (if you need help with that, check out my links above).
In auto-mode, your camera is just “guessing†based off the lighting around you, when settings to use. The problem is, your camera often guesses wrong when it comes to settings like shutter speed- which control how your camera takes in movement.
Your camera’s shutter speed refers to how fast your camera “blinks†when you press the trigger.
A fast shutter speed, is a fast blink – which shows as LESS movement blur
A slow shutter speed, is a slow blink- which shows as movement blur on your picture.

Knowing how to take really good photographs is a life skill that many people aspire to, but some may wonder if they really have the aptitude to learn the proper techniques. Arm yourself with knowledge on the subject, and be prepared to apply it in your own photographic forays. Read on for some great photography tips.
With the ease of cameras today, it is very easy for a novice person to take some great pictures without a lot of knowledge. Having a high quality camera is the first step. Make sure that the camera, lens and equipment are all from a reputable company who makes quality photographic equipment.
Play with the shutter speed on your camera to catch unique and wonderful photos. If you have the right shutter speed, you can get beautiful photos that would normally happen so fast that the human eye couldn't process it fully. Try experimenting with shutter speed and a tripod at a stream or waterfall for some great photos.
Even if you are taking a landscape photo, make sure your shot has a focal point. Shots without a focal point can look rather empty and dull. Possible focal points for a nature landscape photo include big trees, waterfalls, and distant mountains. Another trick is to use something that stands out as your focal point, such as a patch of different colored flowers.
Keep your pictures relatively simple. A good image should be straightforward and easy to interpret and appreciate. It is important to take meaningful pictures, but in most cases your pictures will say more if you focus on a detail rather than put together a complex composition that might not strike people as much.
For landscape photography, attempt to capture the natural depth of the view. When you place familiar objects in the foreground of the image, you can help viewers to perceive the size and scope of the subject. Setting a small aperture, no greater than f/8 with most consumer digital cameras or f/16 with a full-frame SLR, will provide sharpness to both the foreground and background.
Understand and anticipate the impact that wind will have on the photos that you take. For example, if you are planning on shooting flowers, avoid days where the wind is very active. When flowers and plants are stable, you will have the best chance to get the highest quality and resolution in your picture. Get closer when you are taking photos. Especially when you are taking a series of shots, from which you will chose the best, get in there. The better your scene fills the frame, the better the overall picture will be. Take several shots, so you can get the nicest shot possible.
